But the government's geologists reveal the Senator that gold has been detected on the property! Rawkins and his men confront the sharecroppers to seize their land using as an excuse an obscure law making it a felony for blacks and whites to live together.

Reading Rainbow was an American children's television series that aired on PBS from June 6, 1983, until November 10, 2006, that encouraged reading by children. The public television series garnered over 200 broadcast awards, including a Peabody Award and 26 Emmy Awards, 11 of which were in the "Outstanding Children's Series" category. The series was created under the leadership of Cecily Truett Lancit and Larry Lancit, at Lancit Media Productions in New York. The concept of a reading series for children originated with Twila Liggett, Ph.D., and Paul Schupbach, of the Great Plains National Instructional Television Library at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln; and Tony Buttino, of WNED-TV Buffalo, New York. The original team included Lynne Brenner Ganek, Ellen Schecter, and host LeVar Burton. Each episode centered on a theme from a book, or other children's literature, which was explored through a number of segments or stories. The show also recommended books for kids to look for when they went to the library. It is the third-longest running children's series in PBS history, after Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and Sesame Street. It was also one of the first PBS shows to be broadcast in stereo.

Rainbow Brite 1984

Rainbow Brite is a media franchise by Hallmark Cards, introduced in 1983. The animated television series of the same name was started in 1984. Rainbow Brite made her animated debut in a syndicated prime-time special, "Peril in the Pits", first aired on June 27, 1984. Two more two-part specials were subsequently made, "The Mighty Monstromurk Menace" and "The Beginning of Rainbowland". In April 1986, Rainbow Brite became a regular series, as part of DIC's weekly syndicated Kideo TV block; eight new episodes were made for this run. Rainbow City is a British television series made by the BBC and shown in 1967. The series is notable for being the first British TV series to feature a black actor, Errol John, playing the lead character. John starred as John Steele, a black solicitor and the series dealt with his personal and professional problems living and working in the multi-ethnic community of Birmingham. Also highly significant was the fact that Steele's marriage was inter-racial. Steele's white wife Mary was played by Gemma Jones, who would go on to star in the BBC's 1970s period drama The Duchess of Duke Street.

Blue Rainbow

Blue Rainbow was a Canadian Children's television series created and hosted by Lutia Lausane who was always dressed in a pink dress and told stories while playing her harp. Michael Kennard and John Turner played the clowns Dirk and Drock for three seasons. The series was broadcast on CBC in the 1980s until it was sold in 1989 to CanWest Global System who continued broadcasting it. The show ran for more than eighteen years in total.
